Rams Shutdown St. Joe's for Skyline Win

Farmingdale State - 49, St. Joseph's - 35


Patchogue, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's basketball team held St. Joseph's to 20% shooting as the Rams earned a 49-35 road victory. Farmingdale State improved to 5-7 overall and 3-2 in the Skyline Conference, while the Golden Eagles fell to 9-7, 3-2.

The Rams held a 25-13 advantage at the break as senior guard Nikita Green (Roosevelt, N.Y.) led the way with 10 points and six rebounds. St. Joe's shot 3-for-28 (10.7%) in the first half.

Trailing 33-19 with 12:26 remaining, a 10-4 Golden Eagles run over the next 3:43 cut the deficit to 37-29. The Rams answered with a 10-2 to regain a 15-point lead with under four minutes left on the clock. Farmingdale State allowed only three points over the final minutes en route to the 49-35 win.

Green finished with 10 points and eight boards, while junior forward Lushanta Savadel (Bellport, N.Y.) had 10 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. Junior guard Nicky Young (Queens, N.Y.) tallied 15 points and 10 rebounds and senior forward Siohban Purvis (Amityville, N.Y.) scored 12 points and added four steals.

St. Joe's was led by junior forward Danielle Hamlin (Centereach, N.Y.) who had a team-high 11 points.

The Rams next will host Mount Saint Vincent in Skyline action on Saturday, January 19th at 1:00 p.m.
