GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Junior Caroline Murphy (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) posted 19 points and 14 rebounds and sophomore Jenna Swope (Warminster, Pa./Archbishop Wood) added a career-high 16 points as Gettysburg College knocked off Centennial Conference leader Muhlenberg College 62-49 inside Saturday afternoon inside Bream Gym.

Gettysburg (9-5, 6-3 CC) avenged a 15-point loss to Muhlenberg (9-4, 6-2 CC) earlier in the season as the two teams split their regular-season series for the fourth consecutive year.

Murphy posted her fourth double-double of the campaign, finishing 6-of-16 from the field and 6-of-8 from the free throw line. She also added a team-high four assists and two steals. Swope doubled her previous personal best scoring night with a 5-for-6 effort from the floor and a 6-for-8 effort at the line. She grabbed five rebounds, blocked two shots, and picked up three steals.

Alita Zabrecky led the Mules with 12 points, 11 rebounds, and four assists, while Erin Laney and Nicole Pepe each finished with nine tallies.

After Muhlenberg turned in the opening bucket, Gettysburg secured the lead for the first and final time on a three-pointer by Alyssa Isler (New Hope, Pa./New Hope-Solebury) at 18:14. The lead would reach double-figures (27-17) late in the period following an offensive putback by Murphy at 6:22.

The Mules trimmed the deficit to 27-25 as Pepe capped an 8-0 run with a three-pointer at 3:14. The Bullets scored the final two points to take a 29-25 lead at intermission.

Gettysburg held strong in the second half despite constant full-court pressure by the visitors. The lead would once again hit 10 (38-28) when junior Cori Younghans (Succasunna, N.J./Roxbury) tossed a shot from the lane into the hoop at 14:35.

The Mules closed to five points three times, but the Bullets always had an answer. Another putback by Murphy gave the hosts a 46-38 advantage with just 7:44 to play.

The Bullets did most of their work at the free throw in the closing minutes as the team went 6-for-7 in the final 2:45. Murphy came up with another dagger for the team's final field goal, knocking down a turn-around jumper to a 58-47 lead with 2:02 left on the clock.

Gettysburg ran its streak of holding opponents below 30-percent shooting from the field to 11 as Muhlenberg finished at 28.6 percent (16-for-56). The Mules out-rebounded the hosts 39-38, while the Bullets finished 19-for-26 (73.1 percent) from the free-throw line.

Freshman Jessica Porter (Narberth, Pa./Lower Merion) hit double-figures for the sixth consecutive outing with 11 points. She added eight rebounds and two blocked shots. Fellow first-year Emily Duggan (Marmora, N.J./Ocean City) turned in six points and four rebounds off the bench for Gettysburg.
