MILTON, Mass. -- First-year Michaela Flanagan (Plymouth, Mass.) tallied a game-high and season-best 15 points while senior Beth Suggs (Bath, Maine) totaled 13 points and 19 rebounds as the University of New England women's basketball team picked up a 57-39 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) victory over Curry College Thursday evening (Jan. 10) at the Student Center Gym.

With their seventh straight victory against the Colonels and 17th in the last 18 meetings, the Nor'easters improve to 8-4 overall and 5-0 in CCC action. Curry falls back to 6-6 on the year (2-3 CCC).

Flanagan did her damage in just 16 minutes of playing time off the bench, knocking down all four of her three-point attempts in the process. She also grabbed six rebounds and a pair of steals in the contest.

The double-double for Suggs was her seventh of the season, and the forward added a pair of blocks to her stat-line. Suggs was more than the difference in the rebounding differential, with the Big Blue holding a 55-37 advantage on the glass.

UNE sophomore Kelly Coleman (Portland, Conn.) chipped in with 11 points, and first-years Sadie DiPierro (South Portland, Maine) and Lauren Hayden (Chantilly, Va.) had seven apiece. Fellow rookie Meghan Gribbin (Windham, Maine) dished out five assists.

For the Colonels, Christine Deiorio led the way with 11 points and Jeanette Fallon contributed 10.

The Nor'easters' attack was balanced in the initial frame, as the visitors surged out to a 29-11 cushion at the break while limiting their opponents to 17 percent (5 for 30) shooting in the period. After surrendering an opening layup to Curry, UNE reeled off 22 unanswered points over a 12-minute span to assume control.

The margin swelled to as many as 26 (47-21) midway through the second half.

Big Blue returns home to face Nichols College on Saturday (1 p.m.). The Colonels entertain Endicott College -- the team sharing the top spot in the league standings with UNE -- the same day.
