The Pitt-Bradford women's basketball team snapped its two-game losing streak Sunday using a late run to pull away from Franciscan and win 55-38.

The Panthers scored the game's first eight points and led 14-3 after the first six minutes. Alicia Kimmel fueled the start with six points and Melanie Yanetsko added four. Trailing by nine, the Barons cut the lead to three by outscoring Pitt-Bradford 10-3 over a seven minute stretch. The two teams traded baskets in the final minute and the Panthers led 29-25 at the break.  

The opening 10 minutes of the second half provided no separation for the Panthers. After Franciscan pulled within three at 37-34, Pitt-Bradford turned on the defensive pressure for the final nine minutes. Kimmel's layup with 3:32 remaining capped an 11-2 run and the Panthers would go 7-8 from the free throw line over the game's final minutes.

Pitt-Bradford, which was playing for the second time in as many days, shot 35 percent from the floor and 16-18 from the line. The Panthers outrebounded the Barons by four, scored 15 points off turnovers and limited Franciscan to just two made field goals over the last 9:34.

The Barons never led in the contest and shot 34 percent from the field. They were just 4-17 from long-range and attempted only four free throws.

Kimmel totaled a team-high 14 points and Geena Sneeringer added 12. Allison Osborne recorded eight points and seven rebounds and Carly Dalton also had eight points.

Pitt-Bradford improves to 5-6 on the season and 3-2 in the AMCC. The Panthers host Hilbert Wednesday at 6 p.m.
