Top-Ranked DePauw Stays Perfect with NCAC Win over Allegheny

Number-one DePauw shot a season-high 54 percent from the field including 60 percent in the second half and improved to 12-0 overall and 3-0 in North Coast Athletic Conference play following an 86-50 win over visiting Allegheny. The Gators dropped to 6-6 overall and 2-2 in conference play.

The Tigers jumped out to their usual strong start, scoring the game's first seven points and taking a 15-3 lead just 5:11 into the contest. DePauw eventually expanded the lead to 21 before going to the intermission with a 37-18 lead.

Allegheny briefly closed the gap to 15 at 39-24 before the Tigers went on a 26-4 run to grab a 65-28 advantage with 12:02 left.

Alex Gasaway led four  DePauw double-digit scorers with 15 points, while Savannah Trees followed with 12, Ellie Pearson 11 and Lauren Abendroth 10. Pearson and Alison Stephens led the Tigers with nine rebounds each as DePauw held a 44-26 edge on the boards. Ali Ross and Kate Walker each handed out three assists and Ross had a game-high three steals.

Emma Pellicano led Allegheny with 12 points, while Kendall Hoffman and Ann Ryan each snagged six rebounds. The Gators shot 35.6 percent from the floor and just 29.6 percent in the first half.

With the win, DePauw extended its regular season win streak to 37 straight and its string of conference home wins to 72 consecutive. The Tigers' streak of holding opponents under 50 points came to and end at six straight, but they still have limited all 12 foes to less than 60.

DePauw hosts Hiram tomorrow at 1 p.m., while Allegheny travels to Wittenberg.
