Providence, R.I.-Freshman forward Vandell Andrade (Providence, RI) posted her third career double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Rhode Island College women's basketball team to a 68-37 win over Roger Williams at The Murray Center on Thursday night.

The Anchorwomen (8-3) win for the fifth time in the club's last six contests. RWU (5-5) sees its four-game win streak come to an end in the loss.

RIC junior forward Cara Paladino (Arlington, MA) nearly posted a double-double of her own with nine points and nine rebounds two go along with two assists and two steals. Sophomore guard Megan Sewall (Portsmouth, RI) registered 10 points and six rebounds, while senior guard Ashley O-Dell (Lincoln, RI) contributed a game-high six assists to go along with five points and three rebounds.

The game was tight for the first five minutes as both teams struggled to find their respective offensive touch. RIC rattled off a 14-2 run to take a commanding, 20-6, lead, capped by a junior guard Stephanie Prusko (Lincoln, RI) three-pointer, with 9:17 remaining.

A jumper by senior forward Lexi Vega (North Providence, RI) at 4:56 gave the hosts a 16-point, 26-10, lead and a pair of free throws by O'Dell staked RIC to a 20-point, 30-10, advantage with 3:03 left in the stanza.

RIC went into halftime up by 13, 32-19. The Anchorwomen shot 54 percent (13-for-24) from the field, 33 percent (2-for-6) from three-point land and connected on 4-of-5 (80 percent) from the free throw line in the first half. The Hawks shot 31 percent (8-for-26) from the floor, 67 percent (2-for-3) from downtown and converted on 1-of-2 from the charity stripe.

Sewall had seven points and four rebounds in the first frame, while RWU junior forward Kaitlyn Bovee (Berlin, CT) led the visitors with 10 over the first 20 minutes.

Roger Williams would get no closer than 15 points during the second half. The Anchorwomen built a game-high 33-point, 58-25, advantage with 8:34 left and again, 68-35, with just over two minutes remaining as the final outcome was never in doubt.

RIC shot 51 percent (29-for-57) from the field, 36 percent (4-for-11) from downtown and made 6-of-8 (75 percent) from the free throw line for the game. The Hawks shot 28 percent (14-for-51) from the field, 44 percent (4-for-9) from three-point range and 83 percent (5-for-6) from the charity stripe.

The Anchorwomen dominated the glass, 68-37. Both teams turned the ball over quite frequently as the visitors made 20 miscues and the Anchorwomen lost possession 25 times.

RWU senior guard Elizabeth Kilzi (Waverly, PA) led the way for the visitors with 13 points. Senior forward Alexandria Lanieri (Port Jefferson, NY) grabbed four boards.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will resume Little East Conference play at home against UMass Boston on Saturday, January 5 (1 p.m.).
