BUFFALO, NY— Bianca Smiley (Amherst/Sweet Home) had 19 points and 12 rebounds and Buffalo State (5-6) had a season-best offensive output, defeating visiting Pitt-Bradford (4-5), 83-58, in a non-conference game tonight at the Sports Arena.
Smiley pulled down 11 of her 12 rebounds in the second half. Ashley Wallace (Lockport/Starpoint) added 12 points and seven rebounds, and Olivia Luciani (Syracuse/E. Syracuse-Minoa) chipped in 10 points. Kelly Kell (Port Ewen/Kingston) had eight points and nine assists.
Buffalo State used an early 12-0 run to build a lead it would never relinquish. The Bengals led 34-24 at the intermission, and continued to pull away in the second half. The Bengals shot 50-percent from the field for the game, including going 6 of 12 from 3-point range. The Panthers shot just 34-percent. Buffalo State outscored Pitt-Bradford in the paint, 46-20.
Buffalo State will not play again until it returns to SUNYAC play next Friday at Cortland.
