AUSTIN, Tex. (December 30, 2012) - UW-Stout started and finished well, but a mid-game lull in scoring ultimately led to a 72-69 loss to East Texas Baptist University, Sunday afternoon in the second and final game of their winter break trip.

Between the final two minutes of the first half and the first nine of the second, ETBU (8-3) put together a 23-5 run to spark a comeback victory in which they trailed by as much as 11. Stout (7-6) did hold multiple leads inside the game's final few minutes, but the Tigers hung tough and were eventually the ones to deliver the knockout blow.

The Blue Devils jumped out to an early 8-2 lead thanks to three forced turnovers in the first two minutes. The Tigers quickly answered back, however, scoring a bucket on each of their next three possessions to knot the game at 8-8.

A few minutes later, Patrice Parker hit a jumper to give ETBU their first lead of the game, a 12-10 advantage, six minutes into the game. Over the next five minutes, the teams went back-and-forth, trading the lead three times, leading up to a 6-1 Stout run that gave them a 25-17 lead.

With six and a half minutes left in the first half, Brea Boomer (So, Grand Portage, Minn.) took over. She scored Stout's next 10 points, helping the Blue Devils stretch their lead to 11 before ETBU cut it down to six by halftime.

ETBU came out of the locker rooms strong, scoring the first seven points of the half which gave them a 42-41 lead, their first lead in 12 minutes of game time. Haley Froehlich (So, Mondovi) momentarily stopped the bleeding with Stout's first points of the half, but the Tigers went on a 12-2 run to put them up by eight.

Stout chipped away at the lead, and a 7-0 run gave them a 62-61 lead with four minutes to play. The final four minutes featured four lead changes, but the Tigers prevailed after a string of six straight points in the final minute.

Boomer finished the game 9-of-13 for a game-high 22 points. Sami Schoeder (Jr, Durand) used 5-of-10 shooting from downtown to score 17 points after she delivered 16 a night ago. Whitney Rawdon (Sr, Eau Claire) led all players with seven rebounds.

The game marked the fifth straight contest for Stout in which the losing team held a halftime lead.

Stout returns home this Thursday, Jan. 3, for a conference matchup with UW-Eau Claire. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. and will follow the men's game between the same schools.
