The Baruch College Bearcats defeated the Pioneers of Wisconsin-Platteville, 52-41, in a non-conference home game played on Sunday afternoon in the ARC Arena.
With the result, the Bearcats stay undefeated at 10-0, while the visiting Pioneers from the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) drop to 5-8.
The Bearcats led 16-13 with six minutes left in the first half, but went on a 13-4 run to lead 29-17 at halftime. In the second half, they continued the momentum as the Pioneers could only get as close as eight points.
The Bearcats dominated the paint with a 40-18 advantage and scored 22 total points off 22 turnovers by the visitors to also continue their best start in team history.
Sheridan Taylorpowered the team with an outstanding double-double of 16 points (8-12 fg) and a career-high 21 rebounds.
Iyana Abramsscored 11 points and notched a season-high five steals, while Francess Henrycontributed 10 points, five rebounds and three steals.
Platteville struggled this afternoon shooting 31 percent (17-55). Elizabeth Lawinger led a balanced scoring effort with a team-high seven points, five rebounds and three steals.
Baruch will return to action on Saturday, January 5, with a 12:00 pm CUNYAC road contest at the College of Staten Island.
