Paxton, MA --- The Engineers of WPI traveled to the Fuller Center to take on the AMCATS of Anna Maria College for tonight's Women's Basketball non-conference game. After a slow start to the game, the Engineers battled their way to a 72-45 victory. The records for the AMCATS and the Engineers are now 3-7 and 5-3, respectively.

WPI's scoring and rebounding highs belonged to senior forward Theresa Logan's(Southboro, MA) with 22 points and 13 rebounds. Rachel Pineda (Shrewsbury, MA), a sophomore guard, led the Engineers with three assists.

The AMCATS were led in scoring by sophomore guard Katie Pryor (Whitinsville, MA) who netted 13 points while Taylor Walker (Winchendon, MA) had a team high eight boards in the contest and freshman guard Samantha Parker (Athol, MA) came off the bench to contribute 10 points and a team high three assists.

Down by eight with roughly nine minutes to go in the first half, AMCATS freshman Samantha Parker (Athol, MA) came off of the bench and gave the team a much needed spark, dishing out an assist and scoring a hoop on her first two touches and playing lock down defense at the other end. Pryor led the AMCATS in scoring, picking up seven points in the first half.

WPI was eventually able to weather the storm. Led by Logan's 16 point and 7 rebound first half effort, the Engineers were able to separate from a 21-21 tie, and create a 36-23 lead going in to the half.

Junior forward Kayla Cummings (Auburn, ME) opened up the second half by finishing strong at the rim for the AMCATS, cutting the lead to 11 points. The margin fluctuated between 15 and 11 points as senior forward Chelsea Blair (Holland, MA) and freshman forward Lindsay Bond (Webster, MA) traded hoops with the Engineers. At the 15 minute mark, Cummings hit her mark from 17 feet out to close the gap to 9 points. A layup from Parker brought the game even closer. She would finish out the game with 10 points and 3 assists.

Seven points would be as close as the game would get, however, as WPI finished out the game strong. Kelly Morgan (Brookline, NH), Yasmeen Luna (North Providence, RI) and Loganwere the scoring leaders in this half for the Engineers, each contributing six points on the way to a 72-45 victory.
