Falcons overtake Blue Devils in the second half

RIVER FALLS (December 12, 2012) - UW-Stout held a small, but consistent lead throughout the first 27 minutes of the game, but could not hold off UW-River Falls in the second half and the Falcons took a 72-61 win Wednesday at Karges Center.

Led by Whitney Rawdon's (Sr, Eau Claire) 12 first half point, Stout (5-5, 1-3 WIAC) held a 31-28 halftime lead. Rawdon would add five more points in the first seven minutes of the second half, but then was kept quiet as River Falls (7-2, 2-1 WIAC) took 42-41 lead on a Hailey Siegle layup with 13 minutes left, and the Falcons never trailed again.

Rawdon finished with a game-high 22 points, hitting 7-of-12 from the floor, and had a team-high eight rebounds and four assists. Katelynne Folkers (So, Fall Creek) added 11 points for the Blue Devils and had seven rebounds.

The Falcon starters combined for 37 second half points and for all but 11 total points. Tess Lueders led the Falcons with 18 points and Jessie Van Wyhe tossed in 17. Siegle finished with 12 points. Brittany Gregorich finished with a double-double, pulling down 13 rebounds and 11 points. Richell Mehus had 10 rebounds as the Falcons out-boarded Stout, 51-39.

Stout closes first semester play when they travel to Marian University, Saturday, Dec. 15 for a 2 p.m. start.
