Buffalo, NY-The D'Youville College women's basketball team moved to 2-1 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference, 3-4 overall, with a 62-49 home court win over Franciscan University. The Spartans never trailed in the game.
Shannon Dougherty (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca West) scored a game-high 19 points, powered by five three-pointers. Dougherty also collected a team-high 9 rebounds. The five-foot ten-inch sophomore guard has scored in double-figures in all 7 of the team's games this season.
Freshman Alexis Smith (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) was 8-11 from the floor and scored 17 points. Bridget Andrews (Amherst, NY/Sacred Heart Academy) added 10 points and dished a game-high 8 assists for D'Youville. Other Spartans of note were Maria Rosati (West Seneca, NY/St. Mary's) with 8 rebounds and 5 assists and Sarah Marino (Buffalo, NY/Holy Angels Academy) came off the bench to add 6 points.
D'Youville (3-4, 2-1 AMCC) will play a non-conference game at RIT December 15. Start time will be at 6:00 p.m.
