SALEM, Mass. -- Sarah Collins (Weymouth, MA) had 16 points and 12 rebounds and Babson held off a second half comeback by Salem State, as the Beavers (4-0) defeated the Lady Vikings (3-1) 68-52 Sunday afternoon at the O'Keefe Center.

Babson never trailed and held a 15-point lead with 17:20 left in the game after scoring the first eight points of the second half. Bridget Dullea (Peabody, MA) cut the Lady Vikings' deficit to eight, 40-32 when she drilled a three-pointer (her only triple of the game) three minutes later. Rachael Carter (Merrimack, NH) hit a jumper in the lane then scored on a put-back follow off a miss by Dullea and the Lady Vikings were within four, 49-45 with 8:18 remaining

The Beavers did not blink, however, and outscored Salem State 14-2 over the next seven minutes. Briana Hunt (Auburndale, MA) went 6-6 from the line and Collins had a pair of buckets to lead the charge and break open the game. Alicia Wilde (Franklin, MA) scored with just under two minutes remaining to give the Beavers their largest lead, 63-47, a margin which they would eventually win by.

Collins was 7-for-19 from the field and her 12 rebounds helped Babson hold a 52-40 edge on the boards. Wilde finished with a career-high 11 points, six boards, and three assists off the bench for Babson, while Hunt added 10 points to go along with a pair of blocks. First-year Kristen Ferola (Florence, Mass.) also had a huge game for the Beavers, just missing her first career double-double with nine points and 10 caroms.
