DE PERE, Wis. - St. Norbert College turned in a sparkling defensive effort in the first half en route to a 61-41 Midwest Conference win over Lake Forest College on Connie Tilley Court at Schuldes Sports Center.
The Green Knights (5-1, 2-1 MWC) held the Foresters scoreless the first 8 minutes 12 seconds of the game to jump out to a 15-0 lead. St. Norbert eventually led 28-5 with 4:25 left in the first half and settled on a 37-11 halftime edge on a basket just before the buzzer by Krista Hawkinson.
St. Norbert led by as many as 32 points, taking a 57-25 lead with 6:27 left on an Amy Wieting basket. The Foresters (2-4, 1-3) kept their full-court press on against the St. Norbert reserves to finish the game on a 16-4 run.
Tasha Giese led St. Norbert with 15 points and nine rebounds. Hawkinson, Megan Doody and Morgan Heim all had seven points apiece for the Green Knights, who held a 42-32 rebounding edge. St. Norbert shot 40 percent from the field, making 20 of 50 field-goal attempts.
Lake Forest (2-4, 1-3) shot 30.2 percent (16-for-53) from the floor and was 8-for-15 at the free-throw line. Liz Radtke led the Foresters with seven points.
