The Buena Vista women's basketball team had three players finish in double figures on Friday night, as it closed the game on a 19-6 run, and picked up a 62-50 non-conference road victory at Northwestern College (MN).

BVU led 26-15 at the half and continued to hold a lead throughout the first part of the second period until the Eagles grabbed their first lead of the night (44-43) with seven minutes to play.

Freshman Lexi Fisher (Glenwood, Iowa/Glenwood) then scored five straight points for the Beavers to put them back up by four at 48-44.  After the two teams went back-and-forth for the next few minutes, Lacey Vokt (Audubon, Iowa/Audubon) knocked down a three to push the BVU lead back up to seven (55-48) with just over two minutes to play.  A pair of free-throws and another bucket from Vokt gave BVU a nice cushion at 59-48 with a minute left before the teams combined for five free-throws for the game's final score.

Junior Susan Kies (Fonda, Iowa/Newell-Fonda) led all scorers with 18 points on 7-of-13 shooting.  She also grabbed four rebounds and dished out three assists.  Vokt finished with a career-high 12 points off the bench for the Beavers, including a pair of long-range buckets.  Senior Tara Lehner (Le Mars, Iowa/Le Mars) also had a career-night off the bench, turning in her first career double-double with a career-high 10 points to go along with a career-high 19 rebounds.  She had 10 boards at halftime.

As a team, the Beavers shot just under 39 percent from the field for the game and connected on only 4-of-19 from downtown.  The Eagles (2-4), however, were only 28 percent from the field and 5-of-19 from beyond the arc.

Buena Vista evens its record at 3-3 on the year and will now stay up north and play a non-conference road contest at Crown College on Saturday afternoon at 2:00pm.
