Second Chance Points, Points of Turnovers, Keys to Beavers Victory

NEW YORK – Freshman and two-time CUNYAC/Con Edison Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week sparked CCNY with eight first-half points, going a perfect 3-for-3 shooting from the field and ended with 15 points and three steals as Bria Fisher the City College of New York women's basketball team posted its first victory, a 59-18 win over Medgar Evers College on Friday evening at Nat Holman Gymnasium.

The Beavers improved to 1-4 on the year and 1-1 in conference play while the Cougars dropped to 0-7 overall and 0-2 in CUNYAC action.

Syreeta Williams, Latoya Lee and Sajidah Pressley posted eight points apiece while Taylor Pompilio scored six points off of the bench.

The Beavers dominated the offensive glass and played outstanding defense all evening, scoring a season-high 32 points in the paint and 30 points off turnovers.

Nine steals and 15 points off turnovers allowed the Beavers to head into halftime with a 23-14 lead.

CCNY came out firing in the second half and outscored the Cougars, 36-4, in the second half.

The Beavers stay at Nat Holman Gymnasium to host the United States Merchant Marine Academy on Wednesday, Dec. 5 at 8 PM.
