Sophomore Jenna Dockter scored 15 of her career-high 19 points in the second half as the host and No. 8-ranked Tommies shocked No. 1-ranked UW-Stevens Point, 73-70, in Sunday's non-conference women's basketball game at Schoenecker Arena.

The Tommies (2-1), who ran their home-court win streak to 16, played without injured All-America forward Taylor Young and injured All-Region center Maggie Weiers.

UST, which forced 22 turnovers, was led by senior guard Kellie Ring, who had a career-best eight steals, with 16 points and four assists. Sophomore center Anna Smith added 11 points, 10 rebounds and five assists.

St. Thomas, which trailed 33-30 at halftime, fell behind 46-33. But a 20-2 run, with points from seven different players, put the Toms ahead to stay. Point hit two 3-pointers in the final 20 seconds to stay alive but missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer by Sam Barber that would have forced overtime had it gone in. Dockter scored 11 of her points in the final 6:57 on the clock.

Barber scored a game-high 20 points and added six rebounds. Myranda Tyler had 15 points and seven rebounds for the Pointers (3-1).

The Pointers had vaulted into the No. 1 ranking in the this week's WBCA Coaches' poll after their 21-point win over previous No. 1 Calvin on Nov. 17. One night earlier, St. Thomas lost 78-72 to Calvin.

Sunday was UST's fourth opponent in the last five games dating back to last March that was either ranked No. 1 or soon to be No. 1, and it went 2-2 against those teams. The Tommies played in the 2012 Final Four and lost to eventual national champion Illinois Wesleyan in the semifinals and beat No. 1 Amherst in the third-place game. This season, two of its three opponents have been ranked No. 1.
