Kate Walker's two free throws with seven seconds left and Alex Gasaway's steal with just one tick remaining lifted DePauw to a 60-59 win over Washington University in a battle of top-10 teams in the opening game of Illinois Wesleyan's Thanksgiving Tournament.

DePauw, ranked third in the latest coaches' poll and fourth by D3hoops.com, improved to 4-0, while the Bears, ranked sixth in the coaches' rankings and ninth by D3hoops.com, dropped to 2-1.

The Tigers face the winner of the Illinois Wesleyan (#7/#5) and Coe (#21/#21) game. Tipoff for Sunday's title game is set for 3 p.m. CST.

DePauw shot just 34.5 percent from the floor to Washington's 50 percent, but the Tigers outscored the Bears at the line, 18-3.

The first half included three ties and five lead changes with Washington taking a 28-24 lead into the intermission.

The Tigers held the Bears without a field goal for the first five minutes of the second half, while scoring 13 unanswered to take their biggest lead of the game at 37-28. Washington later used an 18-6 run to gain a 48-45 advantage with just over nine minutes remaining.

Ellis Pearson's layup with 3:33 left gave DePauw a 57-55 lead, but Melissa Gilkey counters just 26 seconds left to tie.

The teams were scoreless for nearly three minutes before Pearson hit the second of two free throws with 41 seconds remaining to make it 58-57. Gilkey came right back with a bucket, but missed a free throw to complete a possible three-point play. The Tigers rebounded  and Walker earned the charity tosses and nailed both.

Walker paced all scorers with 18, while Savannah Trees added 17. Alex Gasaway hauled down nine rebounds as DePauw held a narrow 36-34 margin on the boards. The Tigers snagged 18 offensive rebounds to hold an 11-4 edge in second-chance points.

Maddy Scheppers led the Bears with 11 with Gilkey chipping in 19. Jordan Rettig led the way with six rebounds and Scheppers had four steals.
