ANDERSON, Ind. - After combining to start the first and second half's 14-0, the Trine University women's basketball team out-lasted Anderson (IN) 63-59. The win improves to the Thunder to 3-1 on the season.

The Thunder sprinted out of the gate as they led early 7-0. Trine would not allow a Ravens point until 16:04. Anderson would tie the game at 13, but the Thunder responded with five unanswered points. Once again though the Ravens would tie the score late in the first half, and yet again Trine would respond with four straight points. Trine would close out the half on a 6-3 run to lead 33-26.

Just as they did in the first half, the Thunder sprinted out of the gates in the second half, extending the lead to their largest of the game. The Thunder started the half on a 7-0, to take a 40-26 lead. Anderson though would begin to claw their way back into the game as they went on a run of their own, out-scoring the Thunder 17-4 in an eight minute span to pull within one at 44-43 with 10:20 to go in the game.

Once again though, the Thunder offense would rebound by scoring five unanswered points to regain their hold. Leading by just three with under two minutes to go, senior Sydney Spragg (Reading, Mich./Reading) drained her only trey of the game to push the Thunder lead to six. Anderson would make a jumper with under a minute, but the Thunder defense didn't allow another points as the Ravens missed several attempts in the final seconds.

Spragg led all players with a season-high 19 points, nine boards and four steals while dishing out three assists. Fellow senior Megan Loveberry (Quincy, Mich./Quincy) also tallied a season-high with 18 points, including hitting four shots from behind the arc and grabbing four rebounds. Freshman Alivia Recker (Arlington, Ohio/Arlington) and senior Haley Killingbeck (Poneto, Ind./Southern Wells) each added in six points while Killingbeck swatted away a game-high four shots.

Anderson out-shot the Thunder from the floor, 40.7-to-32.2 percent, but Trine held the Ravens scoreless (0-for-12) from behind the arc. Trine also converted seven more free-throws (18-11) than Anderson.

Trine will return home to host Olivet for their MIAA conference-opener on November 28 with tipoff set for 7:30 p.m.
