Babson Park, Mass.-Freshman forward Vandell Andrade (Providence, RI) posted 15 points and 12 rebounds to go along with four blocks and a pair of steals as the Rhode Island College women's basketball team fell to Babson College, 68-54, on Saturday afternoon in the championship round of the 2012 Babson Invitational held at Staake Gymnasium.
 
Aside from Andrade's first career double-double, the Anchorwomen were led by senior guard Ashley O'Dell (Lincoln, RI) and her team-high 16 points, while senior forward Courtney Burns (Rockland, MA) and freshman guard Michelle Lagrotteria (Niantic, CT) each finished with six points in the loss.
 
Andrade and O'Dell were both named to the All-Tournament Team.
 
After Rhode Island College (1-1) took a four-point lead in the first half following a layup from Andrade with 14:40 on the clock, Babson (2-0) responded with a 14-4 run of their own to take a six-point lead with 10:28 remaining in the frame. The Anchorwomen bounced back to tie the game at 26 later in the half after a basket from Burns in the paint, but Babson pulled away down the stretch to take a nine-point lead into halftime. The Beavers opened the second half on a 7-2 run and eventually pulled away from Rhode Island College en route to the victory.
 
Babson was led by senior center Sarah Collins (Weymouth, MA), who finished with 23 points, 18 rebounds, three blocks and two steals. Freshman guard Briana Hunt (Auburndale, MA) tallied 12 points, while freshman forward Meg Otto (Scituate, MA) chipped in with five points, five rebounds and a game-high seven assists. Freshman forward Alicia Wilde (Franklin, MA) and freshman guard Kristen Ferola (Florence, MA) each finished with nine and eight points, respectively.
 
The Beavers dominated the glass on Saturday, outrebounding the Anchorwomen, 52-29, in the win. However, Rhode Island College held the advantage in the turnover margin, as Babson lost 24 turnovers compared to just 16 for RIC.
 
Babson shot 48 percent from the field (28-for-58), while the Anchorwomen shot just 35 percent from the floor (24-for-69). Rhode Island College also shot just 20 percent from the free throw line (1-for-5), while the Beavers shot 53 percent (10-for-19).
 
In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host Bridgewater State on Tuesday, Nov. 20 (5:30 p.m.).
