Wire-To-Wire Wrecks Wildcats

ST. PAUL, Minn. (12/05/03)-- Concordia led from wire-to-wire against St. Kate's as they sprinted out of the gates from the opening tip and went on to post a commanding 73-47 win over the Wildcats in St. Paul on Monday.

The Cobbers shot just 28.0% (7-for-25) from 3-point range but held St. Kate's to a mere 25.0% (15-for-60) in picking up their fourth win of the season. CC is now 4-2 overall and 2-1 in league play. Concordia outrebounded the Wildcats 49-42 and forced SCU into 21 turnovers. St. Kate's is now 1-4 in all games and remains winless in the MIAC at 0-3.

Concordia had three players finish in double figures in scoring on the night. Junior Tricia Sorensen was 7-for-15 from the floor and had 16 points to go along with 11 rebounds. It was the first double-double of the season for Sorensen. Erika Jossart continued her stellar play as of late. The sophomore point guard had 11 points and added eight rebounds and a game-high four assists. It is the fourth game this year she has had at least four rebounds and third time she has had at least four assists. Freshman Katelyn Holland came off the bench and went 2-for-4 from behind the arc and came away with a career-high 10 points. She also hauled in four rebounds.

The Wildcats had only one player with more than seven points in the game. Sarina Baker had 11 points to pace the Wildcats. She picked up five of her team-high 11 points at the free throw line. Sarah Mong grabbed seven rebounds and chipped in six points.

Concordia will finally return home to host their 2011-12 home opener. The Cobbers will square off against St. Mary's on Wednesday, Dec. 7 at 5:45 p.m. The Cardinals are coached by former Cobber MIAC MVP Mandy Pearson and are coming off a big win over St. Ben's on Monday.
