THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - Erica Whitley, Channing Fleischmann, and Chelsey Hastigan were named to the All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Women's Basketball Team, announced on Tuesday evening.
Release: All-SCIAC Women's Basketball
Whitley was one of six to be named to the All-SCIAC First Team. This distinction is the second time she has received all-conference honors after earning second team as a freshman in 2010.
Despite missing three conference contests she still managed to rank in the conference top-10 in assists, rebounding and steals. Arguably her most memorable bucket this season was the game-winner in a 51-49 road victory over Occidental in the SCIAC Post-Season Tournament semifinals.
Fleischmann is one of two Regals to earn second team honors in 2012. She ranked among the conference leaders in free throw percentage (5th), 3-point field goal percentage (10th), blocked shots (11th), and rebounding (11th).
She scored a season-high 25 points at La Verne and contributed 10 more in the SCIAC Tournament final victory over Redlands.
Hastigan is one of two CLU players to earn All-SCIAC recognition for the first time. The long range shooting specialist ranked sixth in scoring, fourth in 3-point field percentage and third in made 3-pointers in conference competition. She currently ranks in the top-25 nationally in both 3-point field goal percentage and made 3-pointers per game.
Hastigan went 9-for-22 from long range during the SCIAC Tournament including a 4-for-8 performance in the finals against Redlands. She averaged 13.5 ppg in the tournament and led the Regals with 16 points in the final.
This is the second time over the past three season that Cal Lutheran has placed three of its team members on the All-SCIAC Team.
Cal Lutheran (19-7) will be on the road Friday, March 2, to play George Fox in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
