Baruch Defeats Hunter (74-51), Play Brooklyn Saturday for CUNYAC Championship & NCAA Berth

The Baruch College Bearcats defeated their rival the Hawks of Hunter College, 74-51, in a CUNYAC/Con Edison Championship Tournament semifinal game played on Wednesday night at CCNY's Nat Holman Gymnasium.

With the result, the Bearcats advance to play in their seventh consecutive CUNYAC Championship Game, which is scheduled for Saturday, February 25, at 3:00 pm, at CCNY's Nat Holman Gymnasium against Brooklyn College (15-0 this season against CUNYAC opposition).

The Bearcats began tonight's semifinal by jumping out to a 27-6 lead and never looked back on their way towards taking a 39-18 advantage into the halftime intermission.

During the second half, they continued their intensity on both ends of the court as the lead grew to as much as 32 points.

The Bearcats finished shooting 39 percent (30-75) and attempted 19 more shots in the game. They also easily won the rebounding battle (58-34) to power their way to the championship game on Saturday.

Jessica Duleba led the team with 18 points and six steals, while Folashade Akinde had 12 points and seven rebounds. Iyana Abrams was also busy with 10 points and four steals.
 
Overall, 10 players scored and grabbed at least one rebound in the victory.

Kristen Markoe led Hunter with a double-double of 25 points (8-13 fg) and 11 rebounds.
