ANGOLA, Ind. – Patty Rewa and Madeline Winters occupied the post Saturday as Albion College gained its 16th win of the season with a 58-44 victory over Trine University.
Rewa scored nine of Albion's first 12 points. She hit 4-of-5 shots from the floor and a free throw as the Britons led 12-8 7 ½ minutes into the contest.
Winters came off the bench and promptly produced an old-fashioned three-point play as Albion extended the margin to 17-12. Rewa tacked on two more layups and a free throw as Albion opened a 25-13 lead and it held a double-figure lead for most of the balance of the day.
Albion led by as many as 22 in the second half before settling for the 14-point victory.
Rewa produced her 11th double-double of the season with 24 points and 13 rebounds. She scored on 8-of-15 shots from the floor and 8-of-9 from the line to finish with her seventh 20-point game of the season.
Winters added eight points in 14 minutes on the court. She was 2-of-4 from the floor and 4-of-6 from the line.
Brett de Bear and Taylor Nugent contributed seven points apiece to lead the backcourt.
Albion (16-7 overall, 10-4 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association) has won 16 games for the sixth time in Doreen Carden's 11 seasons as coach. Carden has won 190 games in her tenure with the Britons.
