Baruch Too Strong for CCNY (79-47), Team Prepares Next for Thursday's Battle of Lexington

The Baruch College Bearcats defeated the Beavers of CCNY, 79-47, in a CUNYAC home game played on Monday night in the ARC Arena.

The game was tightly contested early with CCNY leading 14-13 with 11:44 remaining in the first half, but the Bearcats went on a 24-9 run to take a 37-25 advantage into the halftime break.

They carried their strong momentum into the start of the second half and cruised to a 62-38 lead with 10:01 left. That was enough to record the victory to begin their current four-game home stand on a winning note.

The Bearcats shot 8-of-22 from 3-point range and attempted 22 more shots. The bench also outscored the Beavers by a 33-4 margin.


Francess Henryestablished another career-high and led five players in double-figure scoring this evening with 19 points. Alicea Ulmertotaled 13 points and seven rebounds, while Jessica Dulebafinished with 12 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and three steals.

Folashade Akindescored 11 points, six rebounds and three blocked shots. Sheridan Taylornotched her fourth double-double of the season with 10 points, 12 rebounds (six offensive) and two assists.

Syreeta Williams led the visitors with 12 points and five rebounds.

The Bearcats will return to action on Thursday, February 9, as they will play in Baruch College's marquee athletic event the "Battle of Lexington". The Bearcats will play John Jay College of Criminal Justice with tip off scheduled for 5:30 pm.

The basketball doubleheader against John Jay will be recorded by Bronxnet-TV for a broadcast at a "to be determined" date on CUNY-TV (New York City Cable Channel 75).
