BROCKPORT, N.Y. – State University of New York at New Paltz head women's basketball coach Jamie Seward earned his 100th career victory in the Hawks' (13-8, 11-3 SUNYAC) 76-50 win at The College at Brockport (3-17, 0-13 SUNYAC) Saturday afternoon in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play.

Since joining the Hawks for the 2006-07 campaign, Seward has amassed a 100-56 record, totaling a program-best winning percentage of .641. The New Paltz coach also boasts a 72-26 SUNYAC record in his five-plus years of leading the Hawks, giving him a .735 conference winning percentage. Seward is the only women's basketball coach in program history to reach the 100-win mark.

The Hawks never trailed in their effort to bring their coach win No. 100. The team was led in scoring by junior guard Maliqua Fisher (North Babylon, N.Y./North Babylon) with 14 points, who added a career-high-tying nine steals. Fisher also tacked on five rebounds and four assists. Senior guard Zoe Cohen (Brooklyn, N.Y./The Berkeley Carroll School) picked up her first start of the year and made it count with 10 points and four steals of her own. Senior forward Shanay Bradley (Bronx, N.Y./New Explorers) and senior guard/forward Bridget Grover (Rockville Center, N.Y./Holy Trinity) tied for the game-high in rebounds with six apiece.

Brockport's Phoebe Byrnes tied Fisher's 14 points to match the game-high, while Jill Piniewski led the Golden Eagles with six boards. Byrnes and Desiree Fauvelle each stole away possession from the Hawks twice.

The Golden Eagles became the latest team to struggle possessing the ball against the aggressive New Paltz defense, committing 30 turnovers. The Hawk defense has forced at least 20 turnovers in each of its last 11 games played.

New Paltz opened the game on a 10-0 run fueled by offensive rebounds and forced turnovers. The Hawks corralled three offensive boards just in the first minute of play, leading to baskets by Cohen and Fisher. The run was also fueled by six steals, four of which came from Fisher. A layup by Fauvelle brought the Golden Eagles within six at 12-6 with 14:38 to go in the first half, but they could not get closer for the remainder of the game. The Hawks led by as many as 29 points in the second half, finishing the game with a 26-point margin of victory.

The Hawks had 13 players see playing time during Seward's momentous win, 10 of whom scored points. New Paltz shot 41.7 percent from the field on 30-of-72 shooting while holding Brockport to 30.4 percent (14-of-46). The Hawks scored 35 of their 76 points off Golden Eagle turnovers, stealing the ball away 23 times.

With only four games remaining in its SUNYAC schedule, New Paltz returns to the Hawk Center for one last conference weekend on Friday, Feb. 10 and Saturday, Feb. 11.
