NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. (Feb. 4) – Franklin College today avenged its only loss of the 2011-12 women's basketball season by defeating host Manchester 66-51 at Stauffer-Wolfe Arena.
Led by senior guard Sarah Condra's career-high 30 points, the Lady Griz rallied from a one-point halftime deficit, taking control in the second period, and remained atop the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference standings at 13-1 in league games.
Franklin,which is tied for 13th with Washington University (Mo.) in the USA Today/ESPN Division III Coaches Top 25 Poll and ranked 14th in the D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll this week, improved to 20-1 overall.
Heading into today's game, the Grizzlies' only loss thus far was to Manchester in a 39-36 decision at Franklin on Jan. 14.
Condra hit 11 of 21 total field goals, including two of six shots from 3-point range, and dropped in six of eight foul shots for her career-best 30 points.
The senior standout, who earlier this week was voted to the Academic All-District 7 First Team in the Capital One Academic All-America program, moved up to seventh on Franklin's all-time scorers' list with 1,288 career points.
Backing Condra was senior forward Kasey Dollens, who scored 13 points, hitting all seven of her free throw attempts.
FC outshot the Spartans from the floor 42.9 to 37.8 percent.
Manchester led 26-25 at the intermission after Kailey Honn hit a 3-point basket at the buzzer to end the opening half.
Erynn Meiklejohn was the only Spartans player to score in double digits with 13 points.
