MADISON, N.J. (January 24, 2012) – Three Rangers were in double digits but it was not enough to keep pace with nationally ranked William Paterson (18-1), who walked out of Baldwin Gym with a 89-54 victory. The Rangers fall for the second time in four days at home and now sit at 6-12 on the season.

The tandem of BriAnna Lucas and April Smith each poured in 20 points for the visiting Pioneers who went over the 80-point mark for the eighth time this season. Smith capped her all-around performance with a game-high 10 rebounds.

For the Rangers it was senior Danielle Barber (Cape May Court House, N.J./Middle Twp) who led Head Coach Brittany Gaetano's squad with 19 points on 7-of-16 shooting. She had 11 of her 17 in just 10 minutes of playing time in the final frame. Logan Cavanaugh (Rutland, Vt./Burr & Burton Academy) and Jennifer Mateo (Union City, N.J./Union City) each had 12 points. Mateo sunk three 3-pointers en route to a new season-high.

William Paterson was relentless on both sides of the ball, putting up 20 more shots than the Rangers and forcing a season-high 26 turnovers. The Pioneers led from the get-go, scoring 12 of the first 16 points of the contest. A 12-2 run over a four minute span pushed the William Paterson lead to 36-19 with 4:43 remaining in the half.  Nearly the same result over the last four minutes of play would lead to a 50-28 William Paterson advantage at the half.

The opening of the final frame was a bit of déjà vu with the Pioneers scoring 14 of the first 18 points to pull away from the Rangers for good. Drew was outrebounded by William Paterson 47-37 and struggled from the free throw line, going 11-for21 for the game.

The Rangers will continue their four-game homestand this Friday with a meeting with Landmark Conference opponent Juniata at 5:00 p.m.
