Brooklyn, NY --- Seniors Lauren Plagainos and Justine O'Callahan each topped the 1,000-point plateau for their respective collegiate careers, as the Brooklyn College Women's Basketball team defeated the Cougars of Medgar Evers College earlier tonight, 69-28, in a City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) South Division match up at the Cougars Cave.

With the win, the Bulldogs improve to 16-5 overall on the season and remain perfect in CUNYAC play at 9-0. The Cougars fall to 2-19 overall on the year and 0-9 in conference play.

Plagainos finished the game with a game-high 20 points on 7-for-8 shooting from the field, including going 6-for-7 from three in just 12 minutes of action. Medgar Evers' Chantal Biscette led the Cougars with a game-high 20 points, going 6-for-18 from the field and 8-for-15 from the line.

BC led from the opening tip jumping out on a 10-0 run within the first two minutes to start the game. Plagainos powered the run accounting for eight of the 10 points. The Bulldogs would never trail in the game, as Brooklyn headed into the halftime break leading 52-17. BC shot 46.3% (19-41) from the field and 35.3% (6-17) from three.

Plagainos surpassed 1,000 points in the first half with a three-pointer at the 8:39 mark of the first period, while O'Callahan reached the milestone in the second half with a layup at the 12:01 mark of the second stanza.

"I am so proud of Justine and Gracie," said Head Coach Alex Lang.  "They are both seniors who have worked extremely hard and are supported by and are supoprtive of their teammates every day in practice.  Their accomplishments are well-deserved."

Plagainos currently stands at 1,010 points for her career, which includes two seasons at Mohawk Valley Community College; while O'Callahan has accumulated 1,001 points, all in a BC uniform. O'Callahan becomes just the fourth BC player in Women's Basketball history to reach 1,000 career points.
