More news about: Drew

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (December 19, 2011) – In the opening game of the Daytona Beach Shootout the Rangers suffered a 54-42 loss at the hands of Buffalo State (8-1) this evening. Drew (4-5) slips below the .500 mark for the first time since November 30th.

Seniors Danielle Barber (Cape May Court House, N.J./Middle Twp.) and Katherine Luby (Old Saybrook, Conn./Choate Rosemary Hall) each had 11 points to lead the Ranger attack. Barber knocked down both of the team's 3-pointers in the first half and added five rebounds and four assists.

Three players for the Bengals were in double figures including the game's leading scorer, Barb Kiliszek who netted 15 points on the night. Bianca Smiley recorded a double-double notching 12 points and pulling down 12 rebounds.

Both squads did not shoot the ball particularly well with the Bengals making 36 percent of their shots while the Rangers sinking only 27 percent of their attempts in the contest.

The Rangers led the game only twice in the opening frame but an 11-0 run by the Bengals beginning at the 11-minute mark in the first half, ultimately sealed the Rangers fate for the rest of the contest. Buffalo State took a 34-24 lead into the locker room and would not relinquish the it for the remainder of the game.

The Bengal lead would not be less than eight points for the final 20 minutes of the game as Buffalo State won its fourth-straight game. Victoria Ault (Middletown, N.J./Mater Dei) led the Rangers with seven rebounds as the Bengals held a 44-37 advantage on the glass.

The Rangers will look to bounce back tomorrow when they take on #20 Mount Union at 8:00 p.m. in their final game of the Daytona Beach Shootout.
