CLINTON, NY - The Medaille College women's basketball team played against Hamilton College Monday night and left with a (56-29) victory. The Lady Mavs owe the victory to a very strong opening half as they went to halftime up 36-7. Hamilton would win the second half with a 22-20 margin.
The Lady Mavs were led again by Tanisha Travis who led all scorers with (14) points. Also, she added (7) rebounds in her 17 minutes on the court. Those seven boards for Travis make her just the third player in program history to reach the (700) rebound plateau as she now has (701) in her career. In addition, the Lady Mavs saw scoring from Meghan Dougherty who chipped in (11) points and added (4) assists. Others helping out the Mavericks included Alicia Montalvo and Joelle Pollak who contributed eight and seven points respectively.
The Lady Mavs were completely dominant throughout as the Continentals didn't reach double digits in scoring until there was (12:43) remaining in the second half. Overall, the Lady Mavs shot well from the floor, hitting 20 of their 45 attempts for a (44.4%) field goal percentage. Additionally, the Mavericks hit 9 of 24 (37.5%) from behind the three point arc.
The victory pushes Medaille to (16-4) overall as they have now won seven straight games. The Lady Mavericks will return for an AMCC home contest against Hilbert College at 8:00 p.m. in the Sullivan Center on Wednesday (2/1) as they look to keep pace in the conference standings..
