POTSDAM, N.Y. – Kari Kipper tallied a career-high 22 points to help the Oswego State women's basketball team (10-8, 5-6 SUNYAC) snap a three-game losing skid with a 58-50 win over Potsdam (4-14, 2-9 SUNYAC) at Jerry Walsh Gymnasium Saturday afternoon. Kipper finished the game a perfect 4-for-4 from behind the arc and 6-for-6 from the free throw line.

Oswego State held a small one-point lead in the early stages of the contest, but Kipper (Jr., Loudonville, N.Y.) nailed a three-pointer to trigger a 10-0 Laker run that also saw Kayla Ryan (Sr., Schaghticoke, N.Y.) score five points followed by a Paula Egelston (So., Fultonville, N.Y.) jump shot to put the visitors ahead 17-6 with 11:09 to play.

The Bears began to chip away at the lead, though, as Katy Briedis stole the ball and made a layup to bring Potsdam to within three points at 26-23 late in the half.

However, Oswego State responded with an 11-2 run to close out the stanza as Ryan registered the first six points of the stretch to send the Lakers into the locker room with a 36-25 halftime lead.

Potsdam scored six unanswered points over a six-minute span during the second half to make the score 43-39, but Kipper and Ryan countered the Bears' charge with back-to-back treys on consecutive possessions to build the lead back up to double figures with 5:26 left in regulation.

Potsdam had another push left when Sophie Parks hit a pair of free throws to make it a two-possession game at 51-47 and 1:37 on the clock.  However, Meagan Stover (Jr., Lake George, N.Y.) and Kipper combined to go 7-for-8 from the charity stripe in the final minute to give Oswego State the victory.

In addition to Kipper's 22 points and six rebounds, Ryan added 20 points and eight boards.  Stover finished with seven points, three assists and three steals, while Egelston came off the bench to contribute six points and eight rebounds.  The Lakers finished the game 15-for-18 from the line (83.3 percent), and improved offensively shooting 39.6 percent (19-for-48) from the floor.

Jessica Kouzan was the lone Bear to reach double digits with 11 points on 3-of-8 shooting from long range.  Hannah Kmiecinski chipped in seven points, while five other Potsdam players added six points each as the Bears shot 30.6 percent (19-for-62) from the field.

Oswego State returns to Max Ziel Gymnasium on Tuesday, Jan. 31 for a 6 p.m. tilt against Brockport.
