WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.  Sophomore Taylor Kreider has come up big numerous times for the Elizabethtown College women's basketball team this season. Wednesday night may have been her brightest moment in an E-town uniform yet. Though the Blue Jays never trailed a Commonwealth Conference game at Lycoming, it took a Kreider steal and lay-up with two seconds left in overtime to fend off the Warriors' upset bid, 72-70.

Lycoming (8-9, 3-4 CC) looked like it would get the final possession in overtime after Erin Connaghan blocked Katy Fogel's lay-up attempt with seven seconds to go, but before Connaghan could start to get the ball up court, she turned it over for the sixth time on the evening. Kreider was there to make the Warrior senior pay, laying in the final of her game-high 24 points with just two seconds left on the clock.

Ironically it was a late 3-pointer from Lycoming's Rachael Scheller that forced an extra session. Nadine Yunginger sank a pair of foul shots with 15 seconds left, but Scheller drained a shot from outside the arc with four seconds to go that locked things up at 62. Elizabethtown (12-5, 5-2 CC) led by as many as 15 points in the opening half, but was unable to put the Warriors away before the teams even went to the half.

Kendra Beittel's 18th triple of the season had the Blue Jays ahead 24-9 with 8:04 left in the first half and prospects for a second straight league win looked good. The Warriors cut into the lead quickly, outscoring E-town 17-2 over the remainder of the half to forge a 26-26 tie at halftime.

Neither team claimed such a large lead in the second half, though the Jays did go ahead by eight in the opening stages of the half. Overtime was much of the same, but E-town used Kreider early and often to come out with the victory. The Solanco graduate scored the opening bucket of OT and finished with six of the Blue Jays 10 points in the period. Taylor Alwine and Stephanie Ellwood each added baskets as well.

Kreider was 9-of-11 shooting for the game, as the Blue Jays shot just over 43 percent. The double-double was her sixth of the year. Ellwood continued her recent tear, scoring 14 points. The senior has reached double figures in five of her last six contests and is averaging 11.7 points per game during those six games.  Ellwood also had four assists, one off Jayci Scannapieco's team-high five.

Nadine Yunginger finished with 12 points and two blocks for E-town, which was playing its second and final road game of the month. Both ended in wins.

Julia Antonelli scored 23 points to pace the Warriors. Antonelli hit 9-of-11 free throws and knocked down seven shots. Scheller had 13 and Kylee Sutton gave Lycoming a great effort off the bench with 12 points in 13 minutes.

E-town returns to Thompson Gymnasium Saturday to take on Arcadia at 2 p.m. The Jays will go in search of their sixth league win, which would match last year's conference win total.
