PASADENA, Calif. – In the opening game of the season, the Caltech women's basketball squad couldn't overcome a solid Pacific (OR) defense in dropping a 75-25 decision on Saturday evening in the Braun Athletic Center.

Pacific (2-0) forced 45 turnovers and converted those Beaver miscues into 51 points to aid in their efforts.  The Boxers' post game was just as dominant as they scored 48 points in the paint while tallying 21 second chance points off of 23 offensive rebounds.

The visitors scored the first 13 points of the game before Caltech (0-1) got on the board via a Rachel Hess jumper with 12:51 left until halftime. Pacific grew their first half lead to as large as 34 points. The Boxers went into the locker room with a 41-7 advantage.

The Boxers played steady throughout the second frame as they connected on 55.2 percent (16-of-29) of their jump shots in cruising to the win.

Pacific put 12 different players into the scoring column led by Pagie Jensen's and Nani Ostrom's 12-point performances. Erica Schultz and Ostrom each had a team best four steals in helping the Boxers accumulate 21 on the evening.

Hess scored a team and personal best 13 points to pace the Beavers offense. Teri Juarez grabbed a team best 10 rebounds for Caltech.
