SANTA CRUZ, Calif. -- Texas Lutheran converted 60 percent of their field goal attempts in the opening half and never looked back in their 95-43 win over Caltech in a women's basketball match-up played at UC Santa Cruz.
The Bulldogs (3-5) nailed 21 of their 35 field goal attempts in the first frame in building their 33-point halftime lead. Texas Lutheran continued their effect shooting efforts in the final frame as they connected on 48.9 percent (22-for-45) of their shots. They finished the game by nailing 53.8 percent (43-of-80) of their shots from the floor. The Bulldogs were extremely effective inside the three-point arc where they went 37-for-57 (64.9 percent).
Texas Lutheran's height helped them hold a 52-30 rebounding edge en route to the victory.
For the sixth time this season Rachel Hess led the Beavers (0-6) scoring attack with a 13-point effort. Marlyn Moore scored in double figures for the second time this season with a 12-point evening.
