Caltech Completes Road Trip with Loss to PUC

ANGWIN, Calif. – The Caltech women's basketball completed a four-day stretch in which they played three games with a 77-32 loss to Pacific Union on Sunday afternoon.

The Pioneers limited the Beavers (0-7) to just eight points in the first half as they took a 44-8 lead into halftime. Pacific Union (4-3) forced Caltech into 21 turnovers in the opening 20 minutes while holding them to a 2-for-22 (9.1 percent) shooting effort.

Caltech posted a better shooting efficiency than the Pioneers in the closing half (37 percent to 35 percent) but couldn't overcome their first half deficit.

Pacific Union's Carla Bartlett led all scorers with a 22-point performance while dishing out a game high nine assists in 35 minutes. Lara Canders (16) and Alexandra Santinello (14) rounded out the double-digit point scorers for the home squad.

Marlyn Moore scored a team best 18 points in 37 minutes of action to pace the Caltech scoring attack. Teri Juarez tied her career high by grabbing 17 rebounds. Bridget Conner grabbed 13 rebounds to set her career best mark in that category.
