Plattsburgh Women Suffer Road Loss to Blue Devils

FREDONIA, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State women's basketball team (6-7, 3-5 SUNYAC) endured a 73-60 road loss to SUNY Fredonia (7-7, 3-5 SUNYAC) Friday.
 
Despite leading at the halftime break and having two players score double-digit points off the bench, the Cardinals could not hold off a strong second half push by the Blue Devils.
 
The Blue Devils scored the game's first four points and held the lead until 14:27 when Plattsburgh grabbed a 9-8 lead following a Brooke Reifinger layup.
 
The Blue Devils took the lead for good with 15:44 left in the second period and used an 11-2 run over the following four minutes to break the game open.
 
Lindsey Larivee and Jalen Hart came off the bench to lead the Cardinals. Larivee scored a team-high 11 points after going 4-for-15 from the field and grabbed five rebounds. Hart scored 10 points on a perfect 5-of-5 shooting from the field. Dana Nucaro added eight points and five rebounds in the loss.

Liz Wierbinski, Jaimie Warren and Becky Hebert each reached double digits in scoring and rebounds for the Blue Devils. Hebert had a game high 19 points and added 10 rebounds. Warren went for 18 and 10 and Wierbinski finished with 12 points and a game-high 13 rebounds. Nicole Calbi added 7 assists and 8 points.

The Devils biggest lead came with 3:15 remaining. Hebert nailed a short jumper to put the Devils up 69-54.

Fredonia State outrebounded Plattsburgh, 49-37, and held the Cardinals to 0 for 10 shooting from beyond arc in the second half. The Devils shot 46 percent from the field for the game, including 52 percent (15 of 29) in the second half.

The Cardinals are on the road again tomorrow when they face Buffalo State at 2 p.m.
