Down 17 points with 3:04 left to play, most teams would have packed it in for the night and played out the string. Don't tell that to the Lancaster Bible College women's basketball team.

The Chargers stormed back, thanks in part to two 3-pointers from Lauren Heliger and another by Brooklyn Wilson, and cut the College of St. Elizabeth lead to six with 1:34 to play. Though they trimmed the lead to five with 19 seconds remaining on a Heliger layup, the Chargers' comeback was too little, too late and St. Elizabeth hung on for a 64-58 victory.

St. Elizabeth's Cheyenne Grant led all scorers with 23 points, going 7-for-15 from beyond the arc. The Screaming Eagles' Sabrina Jarmolinski added 22 points and 13 rebounds. The rest of the St. Elizabeth team managed just nine points.

Wilson led four LBC players in double figures with 14 points. Heliger and Emily Lloyd each had 13 points, while Sarah Heilenman added 12 points and eight boards.

"The team fought hard and never gave up," Chargers' Assistant Coach Adam Surguine said. "We didn't play very well at times tonight, but our play at the end is something we can take with us for the future."

With the loss, LBC [5-7 overall, 5-3 NEAC] also missed out on its first three-game winning streak in almost five years and a chance to get back to the .500 mark. St. Elizabeth moves to 4-3 in NEAC play and is just a half game behind the Chargers for second place in the NEAC South Division. The two teams will meet again on February 16 in Lancaster.

The Chargers will look to begin their march back to .500 again on Friday when the host SUNYIT at 8 p.m.
