UW-Whitewater defeated UW-Oshkosh 70-56 in Kachel Gym in Williams Center in Whitewater to run its win streak to seven straight and up the Warhawks' season mark to 13-4 overall 5-3 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Oshkosh built up a 12-6 lead with Katie Kitzke hitting a three pointer at 11:17. Whitewater followed with a 9-0 surge that put UW-W in front 21-18 with 6:11 left in the first half. The Warhawk lead eventually reached ten, 34-24 on back-to-back three's by Kaitlyn Thill (Belgium/Ozaukee) with 0:39 remaining. Whitewater led 34-26 at the break.
Both teams shot well in the first half, Whitewater making 56% of its shots and the Titans at 50%. UW-O's Megan Wenig led all scorers with 11 points in the half.
Oshkosh came back to knot the game at 39-39 on a three-pointer by Alicia Tollefson at 16:23. At 12:38 the Titans led 45-44, but that would be the final led for UW-O. Whitewater eventually built up a 16-point lead, 70-54 with 1:32 left.
Oshkosh continued to shoot well, ending up 50% from the floor, and so did UW-W, hitting 54% for the game. Much of the scoring difference came at the line, where UW-W was 12-16 and Oshkosh 2-6.
Cortney Kumerow (Bartlett/South Elgin) finished with 13 points, with Thill contributing 12 points and a team-high four assists. Mary Merg (Greendale/Greendale) and Chantel Burg (Hartford/Hartford Union) rounded out the balanced scoring with 10 points each for UW-W. Kumerow had a game high five steals. UW-O's Wenig led both teams with 17 points and five assists. Oshkosh's Kelsey Myklebust added 14 points
The Warhawks will travel to Menomonie to face UW-Stout Saturday, January 21 at 4:00 pm. Whitewater does not have a home game until Saturday, January 28, hosting UW-Eau Claire with a 3:00 pm tipoff.
