LEXINGTON, Ky. - Behind a solid performance from Terra Lucas, the Transylvania women's basketball team defeated Mt. St. Joseph 68-56 Wednesday in women's Heartland Conference action at the Beck Center.

Lucas scored 19 points and added three steals, three rebounds and four assists on the evening, shooting 5-of-7 from the floor and 6-of-8 from the free throw line.

The Pioneers, who have won four of their last five games at the Beck Center, improved to 7-9 overall, 5-4 in the HCAC. Transy head coach Greg Todd has never lost to Mt. St. Joseph in 11 career outings.

Reigning HCAC Player of the Week Nicole Coffman added 14 points of her own, and has scored in double figures six games in a row and in nine of her last 10. Coffman entered the game fourth in the HCAC in scoring at 12.8 points per game.

TU's defense was rock-solid as well, holding the Mt. St. Joseph (2-14, 2-7 HCAC) to 4-of-22 shooting from beyond the arc. Lions' leading scorer Katie Jo Collins was held without a bucket until the 4:57 mark of the first half, and tallied only three points on the night.

At the midway point of conference play, the Pioneers are fourth in the HCAC standings, and have an interesting test with their remaining conference games.

Transy hosts the top four teams in the HCAC (Franklin, Hanover, Manchester, Defiance) and plays the bottom five on the road (Anderson, Rose-Hulman, Mt. St. Joseph, Bluffton, Earlham).

Transy is back in action on Saturday, traveling to Anderson for a 2 p.m. matchup with the Ravens.
