Ravens Take Bite Out of Gators

More news about: Rosemont

ROSEMONT, Pa. - The Rosemont College women's basketball team hosted a struggling Notre Dame of Maryland University team this evening and won the game wire-to-wire by a final score of 73-34. Rosemont improved to 7-8 (3-6 CSAC) with the result while the Gators are seeking their first win of the season (0-14, 0-9 CSAC).

The Gators appeared to be overmatched in this contest from the start as the Ravens ran off to an 8-0 lead with about 1:30 minutes played. The Ravens never looked back from that point. The Ravens cruised to a 42-16 lead at the half and extended that lead to as many as 40 points, 66-26 with 7:41 left in the game.

From that point Rosemont Head Coach Andy McGovern emptied his bench and all that was left was to run down the clock.

For Rosemont, Liz Coyne (Fr./Downingtown West/West Chester, Pa.) led all scorers with 19 points on 9-for-13 shooting from the field. Ashley Montecchio (Jr./Sun Valley/Aston, Pa.) earned her eighth double-double, scoring 16 and grabbing 11 rebounds. Vanessa Johnson (Sr./GW Carver/Philadelphia) reeled in 10 boards for the Ravens.

For the Gators, Sasha Vassel scored 12 and Dee Waters added 10 to lead the visitors. Imani Stokes and India Scott each grabbed 11 rebounds.

The Ravens next leave the friendly confines of Alumnae Hall to face the Neumann Knights in a CSAC contest on Saturday, 1/21 beginning at 1:00pm.
