FREDERICKSBURG, Va.--The Hood College women's basketball team (4-12, 0-8 CAC) suffered a 66-35 Capital Athletic Conference setback to the No. 9 University of Mary Washington Eagles (17-0, 8-0 CAC) Wednesday evening at the Anderson Center.

Briana Lee led the Blazers in scoring with 12 points on 5-of-11 shooting, including a pair of threes, while Dyanna Prater registered 10 points and Emily Maerz contributed nine.

The Blazers were a bit slow out of the gates getting their offense to click, hitting 5-of-20 from the floor in the opening half. The Eagles surged to a 34-13 halftime advantage, aided by the backcourt tandem of Jenna McRae and Katie Wimmer who combined for 18 points. After not committing a single individual turnover in the first 20 minutes, UMW garnered 15 points off 11 Blazer miscues.

In the second half, the Blazers closed the gap to 13 on four straight buckets; Lee netted a pair while Maerz and Prater also knocked down jumpers to make it 39-26 in favor of UMW at the 13:30 mark. The Eagles used their depth to wear down the Blazers down the stretch as nine different players found the scoring column in the victory.

The Eagles outrebounded the Blazers 50-38, including 24-9 on the offensive boards. Hood's Rachel Wiley fouled out with four points, seven rebounds and one block in the losing cause.

Aby Diop, McRae and Wimmer all tallied 13 points for the Eagles, who remain undefeated on the season.

Hood returns to BB&T Arena Saturday against CAC rival Wesley College at 4 p.m.
