NU ends week with split

STANDISH, ME. – Norwich University put three players in double figures to highlight a hard-fought 74-65 loss to St. Joseph's College of Maine Jan. 14.

The Cadets, falling to 6-8 overall and 1-2 in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference, gave the host Monks (8-5, 2-0) all they could handle throughout the game, Norwich trailed by 10 late in the first half but whittled away and eventually caught SJC at 46-46 and 48-48. St. Joseph's managed to break away for good with a 20-11 stretch over a 10-minute-plus stretch.

Freshman guard Aliah Curry (Windsor, Mass.) concluded a 54-point week with 18 points to lead the way. Curry also grabbed five rebounds, dished out two assists, picked up two steals and blocked a Monks' shot attempt. Senior forward Tara Stevenson (Watertown, Conn.) and junior guard Jessalynn Sweeney (Stanfordville, N.Y.) each chipped in 11 points. Stevenson joined Curry to share the team rebound lead with five.

Norwich continues GNAC play by embarking on a three-game week Monday, Jan. 16, with Rivier College of New Hampshire's visit to Andrews Gymnasium. Tip-off is 5:30 p.m.

NOTES – Curry registered her eighth straight double-figure scoring game. She's led the team in scoring in five straight and has recorded five-or-more rebounds six times.
