Hood Women Roll Over Trinity (D.C.), 80-59

WASHINGTON, D.C.--Junior Emily Maerz of the Hood College women's basketball team (4-11) drilled five threes for a career-high 23 points in an 80-59 nonconference victory over the Trinity University (D.C.) Tigers (6-2) Friday evening.

Dyanna Prater notched her fourth career double-double with 15 points and a career-high-tying 10 assists while Briana Lee well-exceeded her career-high with 17 points in the triumph.

After the two squads traded buckets to start the contest, Hood broke the game wide open with an impressive 19-2 run over a span of 5:15 to assume a 23-6 lead. Hood's lead ballooned to as many as 20 in the opening half and the Blazers owned a 48-30 advantage at halftime.

The Tigers were no match for the Blazers in the second half as Hood shot a season-high 53.1 percent from the floor on the night. Hood's 80 points and nine triples were also season-highs which helped the Blazers put an end to Trinity's five-game winning streak.

Rachel Wiley finished with eight points and a game-high 10 rebounds while Jessica Talley chipped in eight points and Heather Boyce had seven. Kristen Byers hit her only field goal attempt of the game for two points to round out the scoring for Hood.

The Blazers next travel to nationally ranked University of Mary Washington Wednesday for a Capital Athletic Conference game at 6 p.m.
