Galloway, N.J. – Marymount University's women's basketball team won its third-straight game to open 2012, defeating host Richard Stockton 79-66 in non-conference action on Monday night. The Saints move to 6-9 overall on the season.
Three Saints scored in double-figures led by Katelyn Fischer with a game-high 25 points. She added 10 rebounds for a double-double along with six assists and three steals.
Dominique Dickens added 15 points for MU while Jackie Bohenek chipped in 11. Samantha Kane hauled in 10 rebounds in the victory.
Giving up the opening basket, Marymount then went on a 10-0 run to take an eight point lead at the 16:24 mark. The Saints led for the majority of the first half before Stockton (8-4) rallied to retake the lead 31-30 with 2:40 to play until halftime. Tying things up on the next possession, MU would hold the Ospreys at bay and take a 38-35 lead into the break.
Coming out of halftime, both squads traded leads through the first eight minutes until a Fischer three-pointer gave the Saints a 53-51 lead they wouldn't relinquish. Marymount kept the game a multiple possession affair the rest of the way and closed out the game on the charity stripe.
Brittany Muniz led the Ospreys with 16 points. Kelsey Brown added 15 off the bench while LaToya Oliver and Aspen Price-Perry scored 12 and 12, respectively.
Marymount hits the hardwood again on Saturday as it returns to Capital Athletic Conference action on the road at Stevenson. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. in Owings Mills, Md.
