FARMINGTON, Maine -- The University of Maine at Farmington women's basketball team held Johnson State College scoreless for the first 11:44 of the contest and the stand set the tone for the Beavers 50-28 win over the Badgers in North Atlantic Conference play tonight at Dearborn Gymnasium.

UMF (3-7 overall, 2-3 NAC) is scheduled to host Lyndon State College Saturday at 3 p.m., while Johnson State is slated to face Thomas College in Waterville Saturday at 3 p.m.

Emma Morrison (Saco, Maine) netted 13 points to lead the Beavers, while Mallory Bonnevie (Jay, Maine) and Kenni Norton (Strong, Maine) added eight and seven points, respectively. Rachel Clement (Gray, Maine) issued five assists in the win. UMF took care of business at the charity stripe with 10 makes in 11 attempts.

The Beavers didn't shine from the field (17-60, 28.3 percent), but took advantage of an icy start from the visitors to take a 13-0 lead and keep the Badgers away by double digits throughout the game. Johnson State missed its first 20 shots from the floor and finished shooiting 16.9 percent (10-59).

Brittany Robertson (Burlington, Vt.) tallied a game-high 16 points for Johnson State.

Norton hit a pair of baskets as the Beavers strolled out to their 13-0 lead with more than eight minutes to play in the opening half when Robertson knocked down a 3-pointer to end the Badgers' silence with 8:16 until the half. Morrison answered with a 3-pointer to make it 16-3 and followed with a three-point play with 5:05 left to give the hosts a 23-5 command. The Beavers led 26-10 at intermission.

UMF used a 12-4 stretch over the first 10:29 of the game to salt the contest away. A Bonnevie trey with 9:31 left in regulation pushed the Beavers into a 38-14 lead. UMF's advantage grew to 27 points as Marisa Murray (Anson, Maine) hit two sets of free throws to make it 50-23 with 1:56 left as the Beavers went on to claim the 50-28 victory.
