Eau Claire goes past Blue Devils

EAU CLAIRE (January 4, 2011) - UW-Stout's early lead dissolved away and UW-Eau Claire went on to a 77-43 win at Zorn Arena Wednesday.

The Blue Devils (4-10, 0-5) jumped out to a 14-9 lead eight minutes into the game, as Katelynne Folkers (Fr, Fall Creek) scored five of her team-high 11 points during the first eight minutes of the game. The Blugolds tied the game at 18-18, then proceeded to go on a 15-0 runover the next six minutes and continued to stretch the lead throughout the rest of the game.

Eau Claire (12-2, 5-0) got 16 points from Nicole Christianson to lead all scorers. Ellen Plendl added 14 points and 10 rebounds. Callie Halama contributed 11 points. Eau Claire shot 30-0f-62 from the floor and 9-of-18 from 3-point range. Christianson knocked down four 3-pointers.

In addition to Folkers' 11 points, Stout's Kayla Windt (Jr, Pence) scored 10 points.

Stout will have the weekend off, then will be at UW-Stevens Point, Wednesday, Jan. 11 before returning to Johnson Fieldhouse, Saturday, Jan. 14 to host UW-Oshkosh at 4 p.m.
