More news about: Medaille

HAMBURG, NY - A stellar shooting performance from behind the arc, coupled with a stifling defensive effort, led the Medaille College women's basketball team to a (71-29) blowout victory over AMCC foe Hilbert College.  The Lady Mavs set a program record for three pointers made in a game with (13), surpassing the (11) they knocked down in a win at Thiel College on January 8, 2004.

Ten of the twelve Lady Maverick players that took the floor today found their way onto the scoresheet in a game that was really decided by Medaille's ability to cash in on Hilbert turnovers.  The Lady Mavs turned (28) Hawk miscues into (33) points while the Hilbert bench was outscored by their counterparts (24-8).  The Lady Mavs assisted on (22 of 26) field goals that were made.

Leading the way for Medaille were Meghan Dougherty and Alicia Montalvo each of whom tallied a game high (14) points.  Dougherty was deadly from long range as she connected on (4 of 6) shots from downtown while Montalvo was efficient on the night as well, knocking down (6 of 10) shots from the floor while grabbing five boards.  Dougherty also led Medaille with a pair of blocked shots.

Coming off the bench to spark the Lady Mavs was Mary Bongiovanni who finished with (12) points on (3 of 5) shooting, all from behind the arc.  Guiding the Medaille offense was Joelle Pollak who notched a game high five assists, while registering nine points.  Senior Tanisha Travis tallied six points and dished out four assists as well.  Meanwhile Jordan Kowalski pulled down a career high five caroms in the win.

The Lady Mavs have won seven straight and are now (8-3) overall and (4-1) in AMCC play.  They will have a pair of conference road games this weekend when they face Mt. Aloysius College on Saturday (1/7) at 3:00pm and then take on La Roche College, Sunday (1/8) at 3:00pm.
