Early second half run not enough, Women's Basketball falls to Eureka

More news about: Concordia (Wis.)

LAS VEGAS – Concordia University Wisconsin's women's basketball team used an early second half run to tie the game, but it wasn't enough down the stretch as Eureka College earned a 63-52 non-conference victory on Tuesday afternoon at the D3Hoops.com Classic at South Point Arena.

The Falcons (7-4) trailed by as many as 12 points over the first 23 minutes of the game, before their defense forced five straight Red Devils (7-1) turnovers. CUW converted those miscues into an 8-0 run to stay with EC for several minutes.

Caty Eeten – the nation's leading scorer – responded and pushed the Red Devils lead back to double-digits for good. EC scored 34 of its points in the paint and outscored CUW's bench 13-3.

Sophomore Katie Luethe (Oshkosh, Wis.) led the Falcons with 17 points and a game-high-tying 12 rebounds – her second double-double of the season. She also managed a game-high four steals. Senior Kendall Kerns (Stoughton, Wis.) also recorded a double-double, 12 points and 10 rebounds, to go along with two blocks.
