UNION, N.J. (12/20/11) – The Kean University women's basketball team used an 11-0 run early in the second half to pull away from Marymount University in the 57-45 win in non-conference action on Tuesday evening.

Senior Noel Mathis had 10 points, eight assists and seven steals for the Cougars (9-2), while junior guard Katelyn Fischer netted a game-high 14 points for the Saints (3-8).

Marymount took a 16-12 lead midway through the first half, before the Cougars closed the half on a 14-5 run for the 26-21 advantage at halftime, as senior forward Danielle McFadden had seven points in the opening half.  Fischer scored seven points for the Saints.

The Cougars scored the first five points of the second half and would later use an 11-0 run to build their largest lead of the game at 45-26 on a pair of free throws from Mathis with 10:17 remaining in the game.  Kean led by 17 points on numerous occasions in the final minutes, including the 57-40 lead with just 1:29 left, before Marymount scored the final five points of the game.

McFadden added five rebounds and three steals and senior forward Briana Winston had a team-high seven rebounds.

For the Saints, freshman Dominique Dickens grabbed a game-high eight rebounds.

Defensively, the Cougars held Marymount to just 31.7 percent shooting for the game (19-of-60) and forced 33 turnovers.

Kean returns to action on Thursday, December 29th, at the Land of Magic Classic in Daytona Beach, Fla.  Kean faces Bridgewater State at 4 p.m.
